AMMAN — The international community's support to refugee-burdened Jordan does not exceed 38 per cent of the refugees' real economic cost to the Kingdom, Interior Minister Salameh Hammad said on Tuesday.
During a workshop for governors and Civil Defence Department officers on international humanitarian law (IHL), Hammad said that Jordan has served as a role model for human rights-based international aid and solidarity in receiving large numbers of refugees and ensure them decent living conditions.
Hammad on Tuesday said work is under way to translate Royal Directives on human rights into tangible reality, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Improving the capabilities of administrative governors and widening their knowledge on human rights and IHL is a priority for the ministry to lay down the foundation of democracy and enhance the respect for human dignity as a base of good governance, the minister said.
