AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Ahmed Safadi on Saturday met with Deputy Speaker of the Qatari Shura Council Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, with talks stressing the importance of enhancing coordination over common parliamentary stances to serve central issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause.

During the meeting on the sidelines of the Algiers-held 17th Parliamentary session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation member states, Safadi emphasised the importance of  the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem’s  Islamic and Christian holy sites that helped obstruct  all attempts to Judaise the holy city, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Qatar supports Jordan’s pivotal role in support of the Palestinian cause, Sulaiti said, highlighting both countries’ stances in support of the Palestinian cause and the right of Palestinians to meet their legitimate rights on their national soil.

Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy shrines has provided   a vital safety valve and a primary line of defence for the Palestinian cause and the holy city’s shrines, Sulaiti noted.
