HIMAM affirms rights of Palestinian people to resist, condemns Israeli violations

AMMAN — The coalition of Jordanian civil society organisations, HIMAM, affirmed the Palestinian people’s right to resist the occupation in all ways and their right to self-determination as stipulated in internationally recognised human rights principles.
“It is clear that the continued Israeli occupation of Palestine, and Israel apartheid regime, constitute a flagrant violation of international law and contravenes basic human rights principles,” HIMAM said in a statement.
Since its establishment, the occupying state has committed serious and ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people, leading to the tragic loss of hundreds of thousands of lives.
"It has led to the arrest of hundreds of thousands, and thousands of them are still languishing in its prisons, in addition to its ongoing desecration of religious sanctities, and the public threats to Jordanian national interests as well as the nonstop challenge and disregard for United Nations resolutions," the statement said.
HIMAM called on the UN to urgently implement immediate measures to ensure the protection of Palestinians living under occupation.
The coalition also urged effective steps to end the Israeli colonial and apartheid policies.
“Real pressure needs to be exerted on Israel to end its occupation of Palestine, fully respecting the Palestinians’ right to self-determination, and holding the occupation accountable for its ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people,” read the statement.
"HIMAM holds the international community responsible for the criminal aggression, that is being launched now, by the Israeli entity in order to give them cover and blind support. We emphasise the legitimacy of resistance from colonialism and its tools and plans," the statement said.
HIMAM, in the statement, emphasised that the international community, especially Western countries, should realise that standing with an oppressive occupying state that commits humanitarian crimes and defies international law, contradicts the principles of humanity, equality and justice.
“Turning a blind eye to grave violations not only harms the credibility of international institutions but also undermines the rights of people to resist occupation and their right to freedom,” the statement said.
HIMAM urged all countries and international bodies to re-evaluate their positions towards what is happening in Palestine and to take measures to stop the Israeli crimes and ensure all rights of the Palestinian people, especially the right to self-determination.
