AMMAN — Minister of Health Feras Al Hawari on Saturday met with Tunisia’s Minister of Health Ali Murabet, in the presence of Tunisia’s ambassador to Jordan Khaled Suhaili, to discuss enhancing bilateral relations between the countries, notably in the field of health, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Hawari and Murabet praised the strength of Jordanian-Tunisian ties during the meeting that came on the sidelines of the annual periodic meeting of the Higher Committee of the Arab Council for Health Specialisations, currently being held in Amman.
The two sides stressed the importance of solidarity and the humanitarian role in the countries’ relations, which was reflected in the initiative of His Majesty King Abdullah to send two shipments of medical supplies to Tunisia at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 and in 2021.
They also highlighted the need to exchange expertise, especially in efforts to digitise and develop the health sector and form a committee to follow up and implement bilateral cooperation.
It was also agreed to establish cooperation in the fields of heart surgery for newborns, join their health facilities, such as cancer treatment centres and other institutes for monitoring communicable diseases, and develop bilateral cooperation in medical tourism.
The Tunisian minister of health invited Hawari to visit Tunisia to sign the new draft health protocol in May.
