‘Government responds to only 70 out of 200 MPs’ questions’

AMMAN – The Lower House has submitted a total of 200 questions to the government since the beginning of the second ordinary session on November 12, 2017 till February 28, 2018.

In its periodical report on achievements, the Lower House said that the government has responded to 107 questions out of the 200 ones it has submitted with 70 of the answered ones had come after the legal period.

In the report, a copy of which was sent to The Jordan Times, the House said that its members have submitted a total of 52 memoranda on various issues but the government has responded to only 13 of them.

The House also said it has convened in 34 sessions from November 12, 2017 till February 28, 2018 of which 27 were on legislative matters while the remaining seven were for monitoring over the government’s performance.  The chamber said that it has endorsed a total of 20 laws during the last four months.

According to the report, the House’s permanent committees have held 330 meetings to discuss various topics and laws with 67 of these meetings were for the Financial Committee.

MPs have also proposed four laws during the past four months, the report said.
