Gov’t urged to respond to MPs’ questions without delay

AMMAN — The Civil Coalition for Monitoring Parliamentary Elections (Rased) on Saturday called on the government to answer deputies’ questions within the period set for this purpose, in accordance with the Lower House’s internal regulations.
Under the Rules of Procedure, the government should provide answers to lawmakers’ questions within 14 days.
In a report issued Saturday, Rased charged that the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, which undertakes the responsibility of organising this issue, has not been doing this job as it should, pointing out that answers are delayed beyond the 14-day period.
The report also highlighted the lack of quorum in most of the deputies’ meetings.
