Goodwill Campaign heads to Ruseifa

RUSEIFA — The Goodwill Campaign on Monday stepped up its efforts in Ruseifa District, one of the poorest regions in Zarqa Governorate.

HRH Princess Basma, the president of the campaign’s higher committee, visited the district, some 12km east of Amman, and handed out 400 food parcels to underprivileged families.

She also distributed educational assistance to 20 students and financial support to societies to establish income-generating projects. 

Among the supported projects is an occupational therapy unit at a centre for people with mental disabilities. 

The facility, which was inaugurated by the princess, was equipped by the campaign to serve disabled people and children with autism between the ages of 5 and 16.

Princess Basma distributed gifts to 30 children receiving care at the society. 

The campaign also provided support to another society to establish a productive kitchen employing 13 women, while a third society received equipment for a sewage workshop that will employ 25 women. 

The princess listened to a briefing on the importance of the project in serving local women and their families. 

The Goodwill Campaign provided support worth JD1.8 million to more than 20,000 people during 2012 and 2013.

Launched in 1991 by the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development under the directives of Princess Basma, the Goodwill Campaign has grown over the years to become synonymous with support for the poor and marginalised.
