AMMAN — The General Assembly of the National Association of Directors of Christian Pilgrimage in France (Association Nationale des Directeurs Diocésains des Pèlerinages/ANDDP) on Tuesday held its 75th conference at the Baptism Site with the participation of 157 French directors of Christian pilgrimage.
Tourism Minister Makram Queisi said that holding the conference in Jordan, which will run until Saturday, enriches the religious tourism and enhances Christian pilgrimage to the country, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The minister also underlined Jordan’s status as a Christian pilgrimage site, highlighting the “substantial” support from both France and the organisation.
He said that the conference aims to bolster the promotional strategy of Christian religious tourism to the Kingdom and its potential to attract a higher number of tourists.
Director General of the Baptism Site Commission Rustom Mkhjian said that the conference came after efforts to promote Christian sites in Jordan, mainly the Baptism Site.
Members of the delegation commended the long Jordanian history of coexistence and tolerance among followers of various faiths, which makes Jordan special for French pilgrims in the Middle East, Petra reported.
