AMMAN — Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel have arrested a “criminal gang of five” for suspected involvement in home burglaries, the Public Security Department said Sunday.
The CID received reports of breaking and entering cases into homes in Amman and Balqa governorates over the past few months.
Items such as jewellery, cash and appliances were reported stolen.
Investigators tracked down five suspects with criminal records and arrested them separately.
The suspects were found in possession of three automatic rifles and other weapons, in addition to the stolen items.
They later confessed to committing the robberies with the help of an accomplice who works as a driver for one of the targeted houses.
CID personnel later arrested the accomplice.
