AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez and Speaker of Egypt’s House of Representatives Hanafy El Gebali on Monday discussed bilateral relations, the latest regional developments and issues of mutual interest.
The meeting was held as part of Fayez's official visit to Cairo upon an invitation from Egypt’s Senate President Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razeq, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the meeting, Fayez stressed Jordan's desire to boost its relations with Egypt, referring to the "distinguished" relations between the two countries, which are keen to strengthen and develop the joint interests of people and support just Arab causes.
He also reviewed Jordan's position on various issues, noting that the Kingdom always stresses the need for a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the two-state solution.
The Senate president also said that Jordan rejects any solutions beyond its national stances, and those that do not enable the Palestinian people to attain freedom and reach the establishment of an independent state on the Palestinian national territory with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He stressed the need for restoring security and stability in Syria, Yemen and Libya, noting that Arab unity and integration enable the Arab nation to be an economic and political force, which enables it to end the conflicts of regional and international states in Arab arenas, according to Petra aid.
Fayez called for increasing economic and investment cooperation between the two countries and activating bilateral agreements to address various economic challenges facing the two sides, especially consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Gebali stressed the importance for boosting Egyptian-Jordanian ties at all levels in a way that achieves joint interests, highlighting the need to enhance parliamentary relations and unify stances on various issues of mutual concern, which are addressed during various parliamentary events.
