AMMAN — Assistant Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa, Abdulhakim El Waer, on Thursday, expressed pride in partnership with the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC).

Paying a visit to NARC, Waer noted that FAO has realised “distinguished” success through its partnership with NARC in the fields of enhancing food security, facing the climate change and water scarcity via pioneering projects implemented in the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Waer also referred to FAO’s efforts as a specialised UN agency that leads global endeavours to eliminate hunger and provide assistance to realise food security through developing and updating food and agricultural systems. NARC Director General Nizar Haddad said that food security in Jordan is a paramount priority for the government at the national level, where the Kingdom aspires to be a regional hub in the field.
