By-election to fill vacant House seat set for November

AMMAN — The Independent Elections Commission board on Monday set November 29 as the date for by-elections to fill the Irbid 2nd District seat in the Lower House.
Candidates can apply for the elections on October 26, 27 and 28.
On Thursday, the IEC received official notification from Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh on the vacant seat following the death of Deputy Mohammad Khasawneh.

The Lower House has officially requested that the Independent Elections Commission (IEC) hold by-elections to fill the seat left vacant after Deputy Mohammad Khasawneh (Irbid, 2nd District) who passed away, the commission said Sunday.
Wednesday is the last day on which candidates in Irbid’s 2nd district by-elections can withdraw from the scheduled by-elections, the Independent Elections Commission announced.
