AMMAN —Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla on Monday reiterated his country’s commitment to export gas to Jordan when it reaches a level of self-sufficiency, predicting that Egypt will stop importing in 2018, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He made the remarks during the third Jordan International Energy Summit, adding that Egypt is planning to reform the gas and electricity sectors. Jordan’s previous importing of Egyptian gas witnessed a decline from 2009, with the Kingdom later resorting to other sources to supply natural gas to generate electricity.
