AMMAN — The Jordan Customs Department (JCD) personnel at Jaber Border Crossing, in cooperation with the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), over the past days,  foiled an attempt to smuggle large quantities of narcotic pills into the Kingdom.

The Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson on Tuesday said that in the first case, the search of a suspicious truck loaded with vegetables yielded 800,000 illicit pills that were hidden in a secret compartment inside the truck, noting that the driver of the vehicle, which entered the Kingdom heading to a neighbouring country, was arrested, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

In the other case, a vehicle and its driver were seized after 54,000 narcotic pills were found in secret traps in the vehicle. Both cases were referred to the prosecutor of the State Security Court, Petra added.
