AMMAN — Domestic revenues during the first eight months of 2021 witnessed a rise of JD864.7 million, compared with the same period in 2020, the Ministry of Finance announced on Tuesday.

In a statement, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the ministry’s figures showed that tax collections increased by JD514.7 million, while non-tax revenues increased by JD350 million during the January-August period of this year.

The rise indicates that Jordan is “on the right path” to economic recovery and growth from the pandemic, in addition to “combating tax evasion and tax avoidance, while enhancing tax compliance", the ministry added.

Meanwhile, public expenditures increased by 7.8 per cent during the first eight months of 2021, with an increase totalling JD449.4 million, compared with the same period of last year, while the public budget deficit dropped by JD347.5 million to reach JD 698.6 million during the first eight months of 2021
