Domestic revenues increased by 12.2% during Q1 2021

AMMNAN — Domestic revenues during the first quarter of 2021 witnessed a rise of JD315 million, registering an increase of 12.2 per cent, compared with the same period in 2020, the Ministry of Finance announced on Wednesday.
In a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the ministry’s figures showed that tax collections increased by JD174 million, while non-tax revenues by JD141 million during the first quarter.
Overall public revenues during the January-March period totalled JD1.8517 billion in comparison with JD1.5713 billion during the same period in 2020, marking an increase of 17.8 per cent, according to the ministry’s data.
The ministry added that public expenditures went up by 5.3 per cent during the first three months, as the increase totalled JD107.4 million, compared with the same period of last year.
The public budget deficit dropped by JD173 million to reach JD274 million during the first quarter of 2021, the statement added.
Jordan’s total public debt, after excluding the loans owed to the Social Security Investment Fund, totalled JD26.807 billion by the end of March, reaching 85.6 per cent of the Kingdom’s estimated GDP, compared with 85.4 per cent during the same period of 2020.
