Director General of HCDS visits injured Border Guard

AMMAN — Director General of the Hashemite Commission for Disabled Soldiers (HCDS) retired Brig. Gen. Moran Turk on Wednesday visited First Warrant Officer Salem Salem, who had been injured on Tuesday during an armed clash between Border Guards and a group of smugglers along the Kingdom's northern border.While at the Royal Medical Services (RMS) to check on the wounded officer, Turk conveyed speedy recovery wishes of HH Prince Mired, president of the HCDS, and expressed his appreciation for the efforts and sacrifices made by the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army and security agencies in safeguarding the nation, maintaining its security and stability.Director General of the RMS Brig. Gen. Yousef Zureikat said that Salem’s condition is stable, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.The clash took place on the northern border of the Kingdom, where Border Guard forces, responding to dozens of smugglers attempting to illegally cross the border, implemented the rules of engagement, which resulted in the killing of border guard First Warrant Officier Iyad Nuaimi and the injury of Salem. Several smugglers were killed and the rest fled into Syrian territory.
