AMMAN — A detainee at the Bayader police station died of pulmonary embolism, a blood clot that occurs in the lungs, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said on Thursday.
The detainee had been hospitalised after falling into a coma and was soon pronounced dead due to pulmonary embolism, according to the forensic report, the spokesperson said.
The Bayader police station received a report a few days earlier on a man who had hurt himself and tried to hurt his family, prompting the police to head to his house and arrest him before transferring him to hospital, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The spokesperson said that “some parties tried to exploit the incident and distort the image of police officers through posting photos of the deceased man on social media after the autopsy”, stressing that the PSD will detect all those who tried to defame the directorate and proceed with legal actions against them.
