AMMAN — The departing EU Election Observation Mission has donated office and medical equipment worth over JD150,000 to 11 local NGOs, the EU delegation to Jordan said on Thursday. The material was purchased for the EU mission’s observation of the September 20 parliamentary elections.
“Rather than taking the equipment to Europe or another election observation mission, the EU has decided to donate these items to local NGOs in Jordan in order to encourage and support them in their activities,” the delegation said in a statement. EU Ambassador to Jordan Andrea Matteo Fontana said the EU is committed to supporting the work of civil society in the Kingdom.
