Demolition of Aqaba grain silos scheduled for Wednesday, to be broadcast

AMMAN — The demolition of the old Aqaba grain silos will take place at 10am on Wednesday, Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Chief Commissioner Nasser Shraideh said on Monday.
The chief commissioner said in a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that the highest standards of security and safety would be taken into account during the demolition process.
He added that an international company specialising in building implosions would use a controlled explosion and utilise 1,000 kilogrammes of aluminium nitrate-based explosives in the demolition process.
He also pointed out that Jordan TV will broadcast a live stream of the demolition. A press conference will be held today to review the steps taken by the demolition company and concerned agencies, to ensure a safe demolition.
