CSB has received 338,889 job applications for public sector since start of year — Batayneh

AMMAN — Civil Service Bureau (CSB) President Nidal Batayneh on Thursday said that there 338,889 jobseekers have submitted applications for public sector jobs so far in 2019, with women constituting 74.8 per cent of applications.

The accumulative number of applicants totalled 338,889, of which 291,053 were women and 25.1 per cent or 97,836 were men.

In terms of education, degree holders represented 81.8 per cent of the applicants while the remaining 18.2 per cent had a two-year diploma.

During a symposium organised by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Batayneh added that those who majored in education constituted 49 per cent of the of the total number of applications submitted to the public recruitment agency, while administration, trade, finance, medicine and engineering majors accounted for approximately 10,13, 7, 13 and 8 per cent respectively.

The bureau has also received 6,189 applications for “humanitarian” or priority cases, Batayneh said, noting that the CSB had increased the percentage of those appointed from this category.

Batayneh noted that about 8,803 job opportunities were listed in the public sector including at ministries, public institutions, hospitals and the Greater Amman Municipality among others, highlighting that the selection and appointment process is basically governed by seniority.
