Crown Prince visits RFC facilities, highlights importance of attracting filmmakers

AMMAN — HRH Crown Prince Hussein, the Regent, on Tuesday visited the Royal Film Commission (RFC) and reviewed its activities and services in the cinema and television industry, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In the presence of HRH Princess Rym, member of the RFC’s board of commissioners, the Crown Prince met with a number of Jordanian filmmakers, producers and actors, who showcased their experience, accomplishments and challenges in the filmmaking industry. They also commended the RFC's support to their activities.
The Crown Prince pointed out that attracting international companies specialised in filmmaking reflects positively on the Jordanian economy, and has an important role in promoting tourism and heritage sites, as well as the Jordanian culture.
During the visit, Crown Prince Hussein toured a number of RFC facilities, which included the film library, the montage room and the external theatre.
Princess Rym briefed Crwon Prince Hussein on the RFC and its efforts in providing opportunities for young men and women to express themselves, launch their creativity and improve their talents in cinema and TV.
She also pointed to the RFC’s services to facilitate filmmaking and international production in the Kingdom by providing integrated production services, logistics and financial incentives to support films.
Princess Rym pointed out that the RFC, founded in 2003 by HRH Prince Ali, chairman of the board of commissioners of the RFC, works to highlight the Kingdom as a destination for film-making.
During his visit, Crown Prince Hussein watched a film that included excerpts from Jordanian and foreign films shot in the Kingdom, in addition to the local and regional activities and workshops organised by the RFC.
The RFC provides film and television training, especially for up-and-coming film-makers and professionals in the various governorates of the Kingdom.
The RFC, via the Jordan Film Fund, provides direct support to film and television projects and offers film screenings in Amman and abroad, with special programmes for public schools and correctional and rehabilitation centres.
