Council endorses slate of legislation, amendments

AMMAN — The Cabinet on Tuesday endorsed draft amendments to the civil trials law for 2023. 

The bill, endorsed during a session chaired by Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, aims to facilitate trial procedures and speed the completion of transactions, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The Council of Ministers also approved draft amendments to the Sharia Trials Law, which aim to facilitate trial procedures without the need for involved parties to visit Sharia courts. 

The Cabinet also endorsed amendments to the bylaw regarding providing accommodations and services for people with mental disabilities for 2023, with the aim of expanding the scope of independent living for people with disabilities through alternatives and support services. 

The Council of Ministers also approved the mandating reasons for a draft amended bylaw of administrative management of the Ministry of Social Development for 2023, with the aim of improving the efficiency of the organisational units of the ministry and ensuring their effectiveness in accordance with the requirements of good governance.

The Cabinet also approved recommendations of the settlement and conciliation committee to settle pending cases between 770 companies and taxpayers and the Income and Sales Tax Department.

The Council of Ministers also approved the committee’s recommendations to reconsider pending cases between taxpayers and/or violators and the Jordan Customs Department, settling 18 cases, provided they pay all the remaining dues, fees, taxes or costs within two months from the issuance of this decision.
