Consumer Price Index rose by 0.81% during first half of 2021

AMMAN — The Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measurement of inflation, increased 0.81 per cent in the first six months of 2021 to reach 102, compared to a CPI of 101.18 for the same period in 2020, according to the Department of Statistics (DoS).

The DoS, in its monthly report on Wednesday, indicated that the CPI for June of 2021 increased by 1.77 per cent, reaching 102.29, compared with the 100.51 recorded in June of 2020. On a monthly level, the general index of consumer prices went up by 0.24 per cent in June, reaching 102.29, compared with 102.05 in May.

The basic index of consumer prices for June of 2021 reached 68.96, compared with 68.43 during June of 2020, registering an increase of 0.77 per cent, according to the DoS data. On the cumulative level, the basic consumer price index for the January through June period of 2021 totalled 69, compared with 68.33 for the same period of 2020, marking an increase of 0.98 per cent.
