AMMAN — Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel have arrested two suspects in the theft of JD12,000 from a business in Irbid, the Public Security Department (PSD) said on Tuesday.

The business owner complained to the CID in Irbid after alleged thieves drilled a hole in the wall of his shop, which they used to enter the premises and steal JD6,000 in cash and JD6,000 in mobile phone credit, the PSD said in a statement.

CID investigators identified one suspect, who was arrested and confessed to committing the theft with the help of two accomplices, one of whom was also arrested, the PSD said.

The CID is still searching for the second accomplice, according to the PSD.

Some of the stolen goods, including the mobile phone credit, were recovered and an investigation is ongoing, the PSD added.

Meanwhile, CID personnel have arrested a man suspected of using fake credit cards forged from stolen foreign credit cards.

The credit card company filed a complaint with the CID, and investigators identified the main suspect, who was wanted in previous fraud cases.

The suspect was located in Aqaba and arrested in possession of 33 fake credit cards and laptops with the details of stolen credit cards.

The suspect confessed to using a device to create fake cards by forging stolen cards and was referred to the judiciary, the PSD said.
