VIENNA — Jordan Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Khaled Toukan on Wednesday said the commission is now studying the technical standards of the site in the eastern desert selected as the location of the Kingdom’s first nuclear reactor.
Participating in the 58th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Toukan voiced the Kingdom’s commitment to the nuclear safety measures stipulated by the IAEA, noting that the environmental factor will be at the heart of the projected reactor.
Toukan also said that the nuclear reactor will be confined to peaceful purposes.
