AMMAN — Border Guards on Friday foiled an infiltration attempt from the Kingdom into Syria, the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said on Saturday.

Following the rules of engagement, troops killed one of the suspects and injured another, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Also on Friday, Border Guards foiled an attempt by two foreign suspects to cross from Jordan into a neighbouring country.

Applying the rules of engagement, the troops arrested the two suspects and referred them to the concerned authorities.

Earlier in July, northeastern border guards foiled an attempt by four Syrians to smuggle a large amount of drugs into the Kingdom from Syria.

They arrested the suspects and seized 781,000 Captagon pills and 180 palm-sized sheets of hashish.

Attempts to infiltrate Jordan or cross into Syria have continued even after JAF declared the northern and northeastern borders sealed military zones following a terror attack that killed seven troops.
