Army chief receives Turkish envoy, resident director of US institute

AMMAN — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti on Sunday received Turkish Ambassador to Jordan Ismail Aramaz. Huneiti and Aramaz discussed the latest developments in regional and international arenas and aspects of cooperation and coordination on a number of issues concerning the armed forces of the two countries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Also on Sunday, Huneiti received Jordan’s Senior Resident Director and Global Associate of the US-based National Democratic Institute for International Affairs Arianit Shehu, Petra reported.
Huneiti and Shehu discussed the role of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army in combatting extremism and terrorism and supporting the Royal Jordanian National Defence College through the Military Centre for Counterterrorism and Extremism, in order to promote a culture of countering extremism on the national and regional levels.
