AMMAN — The Arab Renewable Energy Commission (AREC) and a Polish delegation discussed renewable energy cooperation in areas such as smart cities, smart grid technologies and electric cars.

At a meeting between AREC Secretary General Muhammad Al Taani and Polish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pawel Jablonski, the two sides worked to set a roadmap towards practical and scientific improvements, notably enhancing ooperation between Poland and Jordan’s renewable energy companies.

According to an AREC statement, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, on Thursday, Taani said that the two sides agreed to hold a renewable energy conference in April of next year.

The conference will be hosted by Poland and attended by representatives from several Arab countries. 

It was also agreed to launch joint heating and cooling projects using solar energy, as well as other projects related to storing energy in the Kingdom, he added.  

Head of the Poland delegation lauded the Kingdom’s “key” regional role in sustainable development, a green economy, environmental protection and climate change reduction. 

He highlighted the importance of partnerships with Amman in various domains.
