AMMAN — On the sidelines of the Latin American Fertiliser Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Arab Potash Company (APC) announced the opening of a representative office in Sao Paulo.

APC Chairman Shihadeh Abu Hdeib said that the opening of the office in Brazil would enable the company to fulfil its obligations to its customers in the Brazilian market and in other Latin American countries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported, citing an APC statement.

Abu Hdeib added that the office will also allow the company to enhance its presence and provide marketing services to its partners, especially after APC’s exports of red granular potash to Brazil have witnessed a high demand from importers due to the "high quality and purity" of the product.

Current geopolitical and food-related challenges in the world have shed light on the importance of fertilisers and APC’s role in boosting the supply of potash as a key factor in maintaining the availability of cereals and agricultural products to end users and customers, he said.

APC CEO Maen Nsour said that opening the Brazil office is a translation of APC’s strategic plans aimed at increasing the quantity and range of production to expand the company’s growing customer base regionally and globally.

The company is also working to geographically diversify its sources of income as one of the company’s pillars of the growth, he added.

Nsour referred to the main role of the government in support the company's efforts in opening new markets through providing necessary facilities, praising the roles of the Jordanian embassy in Brazil and the Brazilian embassy in Amman for their help in opening the office.

Jordanian Ambassador to Brazil Maen Masaadeh stressed the importance of this step for its envisioned role in increasing Jordanian exports to his country, which is considered among the fastest growing countries in agricultural production.
