AMMAN — Brazil's Agriculture Minister Marcos Montes and Chairman of the Arab Potash Company's (APC) Board of Directors Shehadeh Abu Hudaib and APC CEO Maen Nsour on on Saturday discussed means of enhancing fertiliser supplies to Brazil, one of the world's largest agricultural producers.

During a visit to the companies' factories at Ghour Al Safi, Montes, accompanied by Brazilian Ambassador to Jordan Ruy Amaral, commended APC’s manufacturing technologies, notably those used for red granular potash production, according to a company statement.

He also highlighted that the Jordanian fertiliser is of high quality, emphasising that Brazilian farmers show interest in Jordanian products, which could help in increasing trade cooperation between the countries.

The visit came in light of the global shortage of fertiliser supplies following the recent global political conditions, as Brazil's government, in cooperation with the private sector, are working to meet their fertiliser demands.

The APC exported a total of 430,000 tonnes of potash to the Brazilian market during the past three years, at an estimated value of $184 million, Abu Hudaib said, adding that the company supplies potash consumers with 2.6 million tonnes of potash a year, which accounts for some 3-4 per cent of global potash consumption.

Brazil is one of the world's largest importers of potash as it consumes about 17 per cent of the world's potash, according to the statement.
