AND arrested 1,094 individuals in 636 drug-related cases in August

AMMAN — The Anti-Narcotic Department's (AND) operations during August resulted in the arrest of 1,094 individuals in 636 drug-related cases. The Public Security Directorate spokesperson on Friday revealed that the cases involved suspected drug dealers, distributors and high-risk individuals who have since been referred to the prosecutor of the State Security Court.
He said that 224 kilogrammes of hashish, half a million narcotic Captagon pills, 4,000 unspecified narcotic tablets, 7.4 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine, 13 kilogrammes of marijuana, 2 kilogrammes of synthetic cannabis, 600 grammes of synthetic cannabis powder and several firearms were seized during these operations. In terms of anti-narcotics awareness and education, he said that 925 awareness initiatives were conducted in August, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
