Albanian president, first lady visit Petra

AMMAN — Albanian President Bujar Nishani and First Lady of Albania Odeta Nishani visited the ancient city of Petra, 235km south of Amman, on Thursday and toured its archaeological and historical sites.
Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) Chief Commissioner Mohammad Nawafleh and PDTRA Vice-chief Commissioner and Commissioner of the Petra Archaeological Park Imad Hijazin received the president and the first lady, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The tour included the Siq, the Treasury, the Nabatean theatre, the court and the Byzantine church. Hijazin briefed the visitors on the historical importance of the rose-red city and its tourist significance as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Later in the day, the president and first lady concluded their official several-day visit to the Kingdom.

PETRA — In 2008, local community members met to discuss a project aimed at protecting the natural heritage in Petra, which resulted in some
