AMMAN — The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Al Bashir Hospital's emergency building has been isolated and patients and staff will undergo a 14-day quarantine following the registration of a COVID-19 infection in the emergency and ICU ward on Sunday.

Director of Al Bashir Hospital Mahmoud Zureikat announced that a 42-year-old woman, who tested positive for COVID-19, was moved to Prince Hamzah Hospital to receive treatment, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The woman was rushed to the emergency department with severe respiratory symptoms, he said, noting that she was deemed at risk of having a pulmonary clot and admitted to the ICU.

Zureikat said that the woman was tested for COVID-19 three times, two times the tests came back negative, and tested positive during the third test.
