ACC calls for enhancing commercial, investment relations with Tunisia

AMMAN — The Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) on Tuesday called for enhancing and activating commercial and investment relations between Jordan and Tunisia in a way that serves both countries' interests.
During a meeting at the ACC with representatives of commercial and service companies and institutions, held on the sidelines of a visit by Tunisian businesswomen to Jordan, ACC Deputy President Nabli Khatib said that commercial exchanges between Jordan and Tunisia are below expectations, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Khatib said that the Kingdom's exports to Tunisia in 2022 amounted to JD12 million, which included medicines, mineral and chemical fertilisers, organic compounds and some food items.
He also stressed the importance of focusing on the commercial, service, tourism, transport and logistics sectors and benefitting from available opportunities, as well as exploring fields of economic cooperation and changing them into successful investments that support commercial exchange.
Rawda Bin Saber, head of the Tunisian forum for Maghreb entrepreneurs, said that the forum aims at supporting women's economic engagement , providing necessary support to enhance women’s entrepreneurship, contributing to the development of a culture of initiative among women and encouraging them to participate in economic sectors.
She stressed that the visit is part of exploring aspects of cooperation with Jordan’s private sector that is concerned with supporting mutual investments and boosting the interests of the two countries, noting that the delegation also has businesswomen from Algeria.
Tunisian charge d'affaires in Amman Mohammed Ali Binhabib stressed the importance of developing economic and trade cooperation and building partnerships between the Tunisian and Jordanian private sectors.
He also called for focusing on promising sectors, which offer opportunities for integration between the two countries' economies, and diversifying trade between Tunisia and Jordan by boosting trade relations between Tunisian and Jordanian businesspeople in various economic fields.
