931 suspected drug dealers arrested in March — PSD

AMMAN — The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) in March dealt with 524 cases involving the smuggling and promotion of narcotic substances, during which 931 suspected drug dealers were arrested, including those classified as "dangerous", the Public Security Directorate spokesperson announced on Saturday.

The spokesperson, in a statement, said that 133kg of hashish, 500,000 Captagon pills, 40,000 narcotics pills, 3.5kg of crystal meth, 400 grammes of synthetic cannabis, 300 grammes of cocaine, an unspecified amount of marijuana seedlings, and a number of firearms were seized.

In March, AND also launched 829 courses, lectures, workshops and seminars, in partnership with academic institutions and media outlets to raise awareness, the spokesperson said, adding that anti-narcotics operations and campaigns are ongoing across the Kingdom. The spokesperson also revealed that the number of admissions to addiction treatment centres in March reached 65 cases.
