AMMAN — The Public Sector Development Ministry said Tuesday it received 541 complaints against the quality of public services during the second quarter of 2015.
The Greater Amman Municipality, the Social Security Corporation, the Water Authority of Jordan, the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, Yarmouk Water Company, Jordan Water Company (Miyahuna) and the ministries of education, health, labour, public works, and municipal affairs, received 75 per cent of the complaints, according to the ministry’s report.
In a statement e-mailed to The Jordan Times, Public Sector Development Minister Khleef Al Khawaldeh said the highest share of complaints came from Amman, standing at 50 per cent, followed by Irbid and Zarqa, while only 2 per cent came from Madaba.
A total of 386 grievances were completely resolved, constituting 71 per cent of the total complaints, he said, adding that 155 complaints are still pending.
The report, which was referred to Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, covered 45 public units and ministries during the April-June period.
Khawaldeh noted that most complaints were related to teachers’ appointments, the schedule of the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination, employees’ commitment to official work hours, medicine shortages at hospitals and health centres, and employers’ evasion of registering workers under the umbrella of the SSC, among others.
He also urged the public to file complaints with a special unit at the ministry, which received 95 per cent of the grievances, by calling 065008080 or by filling out a form on the ministry’s website (www.mopsd.gov.jo), which received 5 per cent of the total complaints.
