AMMAN — Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel, in cooperation with the Irbid Public Security Department (PSD), have arrested three suspects in connection with alleged protection rackets.
The suspects are also in custody for reportedly firing guns in the air “needlessly”, while a fourth suspect was arrested on charges of vehicle theft, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Tuesday.
After complaints from citizens about alleged protection rackets, a joint team of CID and Irbid PSD was formed to investigate the incidents.
Security agents raided the residence of the prime suspect and arrested him with two others. Meanwhile, Irbid CID agents arrested another suspect in connection with vehicle theft.
The man confessed to stealing four cars. Separately, Irbid PSD arrested a man in his 20s suspected of stealing medical equipment worth JD25,000 from private medical facilities on Sunday.
