20,952.8 GWh electric energy generated in 2020 — Energy ministry

AMMAN — The total electric energy generated in the Kingdom in 2020 stood at 20,952.8 gigawatt per hour (GWh), of which 18,425 GWh were consumed, compared with 20,995.8 GWh generated and 17,910 GWh consumed in 2019, the Energy Ministry said on Sunday.

Ministry data, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, showed that the maximum load of the electric grid stood at 3,630 megawatt in 2020 versus 3,380 megawatt in 2019.

As for the sector distribution, the household and public buildings accounted for the largest share of consumption with 9,100 GWh, constituting 49 per cent.

The industrial sector consumed 3,489 GWh, constituting 19 per cent, followed by the agricultural and water pumping sector with 2,866 GWh at 16 per cent of the sector distribution.
