20,000 employed through ‘Tashgeel’ programme in 2022

AMMAN — The National Employment Programme 2022 (Tashgheel), which was launched in April of 2022, has served a total of 20,000 beneficiaries, who signed contracts with 935 private sector institutions, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The industrial sector recorded a 30 per cent employment rate, followed by the educational sector with 22 per cent, and the tourism sector with 21 per cent.
In contrast, the lowest employment rates were recorded in the mining sector with 2 per cent, foreign agencies with 1 per cent, and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supplies with 0.03 per cent.
Tashgeel seeks to provide 60,000 job opportunities for Jordanian men and women in the private sector, in accordance with private sector demand.
The total number of job opportunities created by private sector institutions and companies to date has reached 56,903, of which 38 per cent are in Amman, followed by 29 per cent in Irbid, 13 per cent in Aqaba, 8 per cent in Zarqa, 4 per cent in Karak, and 1 per cent for each of Ajloun, Tafileh, Balqa, Mafraq, Jerash, Madaba and Maan.
The total number of registered beneficiaries reached 53,143, of whom 26,258 were females and 26,885 were males.
The percentage of bachelor’s degree holders registered with the programme stands at 40 per cent, followed by those without a Tawjihi (the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination) certificate at 15 per cent, those holding a Tawjihi at 13 per cent, intermediate diploma holders at 9 per cent, vocational training graduates at 2 per cent, master’s degree holders at 2 per cent, doctorate holders at 1 per cent, and higher diploma holders at 1 per cent.
Through the programme, incentives are provided for a period of six months for each employee, including JD130 of wage support, JD10 as social security contributions, and JD10 for transportation allowance, all totalling JD150.
