AMMAN — An official at the Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) has called on job-seekers to grasp 15,000 job opportunities in the leather and knitting industries, which were made available by a government-sponsored programme, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Representative of the leather and knitting industries at the JCI Ehab Qadri said the National Employment Programme (Tashgeel) provided 25,000 jobs in the industry sector, constituting 47 per cent of total openings made available by Tashgeel.
The programme placed 2,435 men and women in jobs in the leather and knitting industries, he told Petra in a statement.
Through partnerships with the private sector, Tashgeel seeks to provide a total of 60,000 job openings. More than 60 companies have registered in the programme, Qadri stated, noting that the industry has great employment potential.
Garment exports jumped by 20.2 per cent during the first 11 months of 2022, topping $2 billion compared with the same period in 2021.
