2 suspects in possession of artefacts arrested

AMMAN — Preventive Security personnel have arrested two suspects in possession of what is believed to be artefacts that were intended to be sold for JD250,000, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said on Wednesday.
Investigations led to identifying the location of the two suspects in Amman’s Bayader neighbourhood, where security personnel arrested them, the spokesperson noted as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The PSD official said that the confiscated items included a statute, pottery pieces and coins that were believed to have archaeological value, which were all referred to experts at the General Antiquities Department to determine their historical value. He said that the suspects were referred to the judiciary.
