1,570 cases of tax evasion found within first half of year — ISTD

AMMAN — The Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) detected around 1,570 cases of tax evasion between January and June of this year, the ISTD announced on Thursday.
The department estimated the cases to be worth around JD162 million, excluding fines, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The value of sales tax estimated for one of the cases exceeded JD100 million, excluding fines, the department noted.
The ISTD said that it is moving forward with applying its plan to hunt for evaders in various sectors and register people in the tax system.
