1 virus-related death, 549 coronavirus cases recorded Thursday

AMMAN — One virus-related death and 549 COVID-19 cases, including 544 local infections, were recorded in the Kingdom on Thursday, increasing the caseload to 6,591, according to the government.
The local cases comprised 313 infections in Amman, 118 in Zarqa, 34 in Balqa, 37 in Karak, five in Jerash, 14 in Irbid, 12 in Maan, three in Ajloun, six in Mafraq, one in Aqaba and one in Madaba, according to a joint statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Health Ministry.
The new fatality, a woman, takes Jordan’s coronavirus death toll to 36.
The cases from abroad comprised five Jordanians who have been in quarantine at designated hotels.
A total of 125 recoveries were registered during the past 24 hours, including nine from Prince Hamzah Hospital, 102 from the Dead Sea quarantine site, four from Queen Alia Military Hospital and 10 at accredited private hospitals, the statement said.

Amid the growing number of local infections, the Ministry of Health called on the public to adhere to the defence orders 11 and 16 and follow health and preventive measures, as well as wearing masks, refraining from holding gatherings of more than 20 people and using Aman and Sehtak applications.
