Discarded in small pieces
Oct 08,2016 - Last updated at Oct 08,2016
How sad I am today
Some say I am 40 and others 50
All I know is that for all those years I proudly served against all odds,
How sad I am today.
I graced the neighbourhood, sheltered many,
as did all those on this and many other streets and areas.
Many of us were considered magnificent, photographed and admired,
whispers that we are precious, protected,
part of the history and memories of all those who lived or passed through
the different neighbourhoods.
This evening I am discarded in small pieces, forgotten,
wondering why we all had to be destroyed,
dismay, disbelief and shock on many of those old familiar faces.
our contribution and efforts forgotten.
We have not been watered for practically our lifetime,
Some of us were disfigured as we were not cared for,
not trimmed,
damaged by snow and neglect,
we kept growing and serving regardless of all the challenges.
How sad I am today...
G. Kanan,
Amman
