In April HRH Crown Prince Hussein became the youngest person ever to chair a UN Security Council meeting, leading an open debate on how youth can combat violent extremism and its “poisonous ideology”
In May, the Crown Prince wrote an op-ed published by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, on the occasion of Independence Day in which he said the historic cohesion between the people and leadership of Jordan has enabled the country to remain faithful to its pan-Arab message and serve the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations
In June, he paid a visit to Al Hussein Medical Centre where he checked on children who have undergone cochlear implant surgeries. The surgeries were part of the Hearing Without Borders initiative, launched by the Crown Prince late 2014 in a bid to make Jordan free of hearing disabilities and help deaf children in the country
In July, the Crown Prince inaugurated the Mujib Dam Water Conveyance Project, which channels water from the dam to Karak. The JD11 million project, funded by a grant from the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development, enhances water supply to Karak's villages by pumping drinking water with a capacity of 500 metres per an hour
In August, the Crown Prince addressed more than 500 politicians, UN leaders, youth representatives and officials from several countries at the opening of the Global Forum on Youth, Peace and Security, in Amman. He called for efforts to optimally utilise young people's potential and capabilities to enhance their role as peace builders
In December, he chaired the first meeting of the Crown Prince Foundation’s board of trustees. The foundation announced the launch of an initiative to protect young Jordanians against the dangers of addiction and smoking, along with another initiative on creativity. The foundation's board also approved plans to establish the Prince Hussein Bin Abdullah II Technical University
