Amid the current challenges and painful events sweeping through the region, the MENA ICT Forum 2024, held under the Royal Patronage on November 20-21 and organised by the ICT Association of Jordan (int@j), emerged as a powerful demonstration of Jordan’s leadership in technology and innovation.

The forum witnessed the participation of over 3,000 attendees from across Jordan and the region, including delegations from Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria, in addition to many other countries across the world. A remarkable highlight was the significant Palestinian presence through a dedicated pavilion showcasing Palestinian companies, emphasizing their determination to actively contribute to the region's technological development despite facing significant challenges.

This year’s event brought together leaders and representatives from 40 countries, reflecting a collective commitment to enhancing regional cooperation and advancing the ICT sector. The Forum also hosted a distinguished group of Arab ministers, ambassadors, and diplomats, in addition to the Secretary General of the Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO), chairs of the Arab ICT Union (AICTU), and the Arab Regional ISPs & DSPs Association (ARISPA), as well as the CEO of The World Innovation & Technology Services Alliance (WITSA). These high-profile participants underscored the trust placed in Jordan’s pivotal role in fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and regional and international collaboration.

The ability of Jordan to host and organise such a large-scale event amidst these difficult times highlights the nation’s role as a hub for regional stability and cooperation. The Forum was more than a platform for networking and knowledge sharing; it stood as a testament to the sector’s resilience, showcasing technology as a tool for positive change and a pathway toward a better future.

A major feature of the Forum was the Startup Village Arabia, which hosted more than 100 startups from Jordan and the Arab region. These young entrepreneurs presented innovative tech solutions addressing local community needs and contributing to sustainable development, painting a brighter future for the region.

The Forum also saw diverse participation from decision-makers, academics, and private and public sector experts. Representatives from industries such as healthcare, finance, education, and tourism joined the discussions, highlighting the growing awareness of technology’s transformative potential across various fields.

Awards presented at the forum were more than just recognition; they were a call to action, encouraging innovation and excellence. They demonstrated that embracing new ideas is the key to overcoming challenges and fostering sustainable growth in the region.

Additionally, the Forum provided participants with unparalleled opportunities for networking, fostering new collaborations that extended beyond the ICT sector into economic and social realms. The exchange of ideas and expertise strengthened bonds between nations and people, promoting solidarity and unity in addressing shared challenges.

At a time when the region is facing immense difficulties, the MENA ICT Forum 2024 carried a clear message: technology and innovation are powerful tools to overcome adversity and achieve development. By focusing on what unites us, the Forum ignited hope and encouraged collective efforts toward progress.
