Citizens’ involvement crucial to country’s development

During his meeting with the 19-member National Action Front of the Lower House, His Majesty King Abdullah stressed the fact that the Jordanian citizen is at the heart of the Kingdom’s comprehensive reform process, which requires the engagement of all.

The involvement of parliamentary blocs in the reform process is important, as is their collaboration with the other two branches of power in the drawing up of legislation pertaining to political reform and economic development, two issues of high priority for the country.

To activate the role of the parliamentary blocs, there is need to draw up effective policies and have the performance of the Lower House constantly assessed, to decide whether the country is on the right path towards progress.

The various proposed laws conducive to reform need to be endorsed in an expeditious manner and all stakeholders have to cooperate and form a partnership, with a view to implementing and complying with these laws.

The various Lower House blocs need to give economic reform, particularly, high priority, since this is the only way to improve the living conditions of the citizens.

Economic reform is a strategic need, and no government can afford to ignore it. 

The parliamentary blocs can serve well this strategic objective by raising awareness about it at regional levels.
