Salem, Wreikat to push for speed test coronation

AMMAN — Barring a disaster, reigning champion Husam Salem is set to be crowned 2019 Jordan Speed Test champion this Friday when the series comes to a close at the Royal Automobile Club, according to the Jordan Motorsport Media Service.
Salem has dominated the season, winning rounds one, three and five to hold a 25-point advantage at the top of the standings. Organisers Jordan Motorsport have made Friday’s finale a “power round” with 50 per cent more points up for grabs so the winner on the day will win 37.5 points, instead of the usual 25.
That gives second placed Ghaith Wreikat a slim chance of gate crashing the coronation, but he would need to win and hope that Salem finishes outside of the top seven.
Friday’s curtain closer has attracted a bumper field of 55 drivers with the likes of Lebanese speedster Roger Feghali, Mustafa Attari, Mohammed Tayseer and Ihab Al Shurafa among those more than capable of claiming an outright victory on the day.
