Ramtha lead league as Week 5 starts

AMMAN — Fans hope Week 5 of the 63rd Jordan Professional League which kicks off Thursday will finally put the competition in high gear after three matches ending in goalless draws last week.
There were many changes in the standings last week as titleholders Wihdat lost their lead after a 0-0 draw with Hussein. Wihdat are second and will play Manshieh.
Ramtha are in the lead after a 2-0 win over neighbours Ittihad Ramtha. They have scored four consecutive wins and will play Hussein Irbid.
Former champs Faisali held Shabab Urdun 0-0 and remained in third place as the latter dropped to fifth. Faisali will play Baqaa on Friday.
Jazira are fourth after a 4-2 win over Manshieh. They will play Shabab Urdun in a match that is important for both teams struggling for a standing among the top five.
In other matches, That Ras, who held Baqaa 1-1, will play last placed Ahli, who were held to a 0-0 draw by Sarih. Ittihad Ramtha play Sarih and Ahli take on That Ras.
Teams are also readying for the Jordan Cup quarters now set for October 26: Ahli vs. Ramtha, That Ras vs. Jazira, Wihdat vs. Sarih and Faisali vs. Manshieh. Baqaa, Shabab Urdun and Hussein were eliminated. Only Jordan Professional League teams are competing this year.
Wihdat won the first major competition of the 2014/15 football season after they beat Baqaa 2-0 in the 32nd Super Cup.
Last season, Wihdat won the Jordan Professional League title for the 13th time and beat Baqaa to win the Jordan Cup, while Shabab Urdun beat That Ras to win the Super Cup. The Jordan Football Association Shield was not held.

Week 3 of the 63rd Jordan Professional League kicks off on Thursday after major changes in the standings.
The 63rd Jordan Professional League will now head into a two-week break as the national team regroups for two friendlies against Kuwait after the Eid holiday.
Eight teams have made it beyond the preliminary round of the Jordan Cup as Baqaa, Shabab Urdun and Hussein were eliminated. The top four teams from each of the two groups moved to the quarters, which will see Ahli play Ramtha, That Ras play Jazira, Wihdat face Sarih and Faisali play Manshieh. Ahli, who made a comeback to the Pro League, topped Group A standings and were the first to qualify after impressive results. They were followed by Faisali, Jazira and Sarih.
